Hydroponics and Aquaponics are ecosystems that form microcosms in nature. These methods have great educational key elements: bacterias, plants, fishes, water and more. Systems allow schools to carry out bio-researches. These systems are also suitable for organizations that have special needs populations.
The underlying philosophy of hydroponics and aquaponics is present in nature. Nature creates natural cycles. We imitate them to produce benefits without damaging natural resources. We grasped that each process is related to another one. It’s endless reciprocal relations that sharpen the understanding of the natural world around us. Hand in hand with nature we’re understanding processes that take place in it. Hydroponics and aquaponics require understanding of chemistry, physics and basics of biology, as well as patience and discipline.
Children are exposed to natural ecosystems at an early age. They are growing up in societies that are figuring out consequences of waste and decrease of unlimited natural resources. Pollution, climate change, as well as recycling, ecology are words they get used to hear. It develops in them a green thinking which is a common value in modern societies especially in Israel. We think it is really important to show them sustainable solutions that are excited worldwide such as hydroponics and aquaponics.
Hydroponic and aquaponic systems illustrate processes related to biological sciences, agriculture, ecology, physics and more. Systems are ideal for biomedical researches, theses and demo external groups.
Subjects directly related to these systems:
- Nitrogen and carbon cycle in nature
- Symbiosis between organisms
- Ecology of natural systems
- Aqua Culture and fish breeding
- Water quality and water treatment
- Physiology of plants and photosynthesis
- Alternative energy and recycling
- Exposure of the general school green areas and the environment through the system and accompanying explanatory signs
- “Declaration” public school that is green and environmentally cleaner aims
We adapt systems for schools and institutions needs and do ongoing training for teachers.
DIY - Do it yourself
Do you want to build a system by yourself? We are here for you! On the DIY page there are guidelines to set up and run a full system. Guidelines are free of charge.
Aquaponic and hydroponic workshops are suitable for beginners or advanced home growers. During the workshop you will get all the information you need, including manuals, to build and operate hydroponic and aquaponic systems in your home.
